Had Motorola and Google realized the sacrilege they were committing by getting away from Linux when they did the OS of the "Droids" they probably would have done it sooner or not done it at all. There is a great support community for Linux itself, regardless of what target CPU and GPU it is and chip set. It's just easier to develop for Linux instead of a customized hodge-podge of OS and middleware. Perhaps, Apple will drop the iOS name and call it what it really it's Ubuntu Linux with a custom GUI meant for portables with touch-screens built-in. Maybe, just maybe, Apple will start moving in the direction of straight Free BSD again or Linux, time will tell.
